Avril Lavigne is one of those artists that doesn’t come around to often. By the age of 15 she appeared on stage with Shania Twain – that was almost half her life ago – but don’t tell her that, it makes her feel old. By 16 she had signed a two album recording contract with Arista Records. By the time she was 17 – the year I actually met Avril for the first time – she broke onto the music scene like it was nobody’s business with her debut album “Let Go”.
There was no looking back for this pop punk princess from Napanee, Ontario. Each and every time I’ve interviewed Avril – it has been as easy as hanging out with my little sister (the little sister I don’t have), whether it was introducing her to the nation back in 2002, while racing go carts in Toronto, hanging out at pre-Grammy parties at The Jim Henson Studio in Hollywood or having fun with her perfume and clothing lines in LA… it’s always a blast!
Fast forward to 2013: she’s pumped about her fifth studio album coming out sometime in September, in awe over the massive engagement ring rocker Chad Kroeger put on her finger, on cloud nine with planning her summer wedding and still young at heart to break a few rules now and again – yes she told me trashing hotel rooms is still something she takes part in… “Here’s to Never Growing Up”!
Watch my interview with Avril tonight on ET Canada!
